Miami Center for Vision Research
RESEARCH TRAINING
A major goal of the MCVR is to attract well-trained individuals to do research on the basic
biology and diseases of the eye and visual system. As such, training of scientists, clinician-scientists,
and clinical researchers is an integral component of the MCVR mission.
Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and the basic science departments at the University of Miami
have long been training eye and vision researchers. Our faculty has a significant track record
of successful graduates, many of whom have become NIH-funded scientists. Recently we organized
the multiple components of our training opportunities into a comprehensive Training
Program in Eye and Vision Research .

The program provides opportunities for individuals at all levels, from the
undergraduate student just beginning to think about a research career,
to the young faculty member launching his/her research program.
We are currently seeking NEI funding to support the Program and its trainees.
