Since 1962, when Bascom Palmer Eye Institute was formally dedicated as the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Department of Ophthalmology, the name has become synonymous with national and international excellence in ophthalmic care, research and education. This honor is possible with the support of our many colleagues around the world. We value your patient referrals and strive to exceed your expectations.

Exclusively for the use of physicians, a Physician Referral Hotline has been established for your convenience. You may refer patients by calling, faxing or e-mailing the Physician Referral Hotline at 800-329-7000, ext. 6433, via fax at 305-326-6318 or at eyehotline@med.miami.edu. The Physician Referral Hotline is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Please use our convenient referral sheet when communicating with your patient. It not only includes the name and specialty of the physician you are recommending, it also contains phone numbers and addresses to help your patient.  

Ocular emergency room services are available at Bascom Palmer's Anne Bates Leach Eye Hospital in Miami, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To contact the emergency room directly, please call 305-326-6170.
